Scholarships for Leadership Training and Coaching

for Directors of Health Promotion & Education
members, voting and associate

The Directors of Health Promotion
and Education (DHPE) seeks to provide quality
leadership development opportunities for its
membership in order to support its members and
the mission of the organization: to strengthen, promote, and enhance the professional practice
of health promotion and public health education
nationally and within state health departments.
With the available funds (approximately
$30,000) DHPE is offering scholarships for leadership-related
courses (distance learning or single or multiple
day on-site training
institutes) or leadership coaching (a minimum
of three months to work with an individual coach
to hone and integrate leadership skills) for
public health leaders. Awards will range between
$500-$2000.
Eligibility:
DHPE dues-paid member seeking professional development
through leadership-related courses or leadership
coaching.
Eligible training courses may
be distance-learning based or single- or multiple-day
on-site training institutes. Inclusion of public health principles preferred
but not required. See Training

Submission
criteria: Application form describing the
leadership training opportunity in sufficient
detail to evaluate its credentials and content
(for training awards), goals and outcomes of
coaching (for coaching awards), commitment by
the supervisor to allow participation in the
training, amount requested.
Review
and notification: DHPE’s
contractor for leadership scholarships will
send applications to reviewers and notify applicants
of the reviewers’ decisions. All decisions of
the review panel are final. Allow 4-8 weeks
for review process.
Funds will be issued until
availability runs out. A total of $30,000 is
available.
